New Delhi, May 28: Finally Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat is able to take the lime light. He said that by May 31, state of Uttarakhand will be open defecation free. He further added that Uttarakhand government has taken very seriously Prime Minister ‘s ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’. He also added that maximum efforts were made to bring cleanliness.
In an interview to PTI, Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat told “By the end of May, Uttarakhand will be open defecation free, barring a few areas in Haridwar,”
Before that, Centre has announced Sikkim to be open defecation free followed by Himanchal Pradesh and Kerela.
There is anticipation that Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab and Uttarakhand will be open defecation free by this year.
CM Rawat further added that proper planning is being on the way to rejuvenate two rivers in Dehradun – Song and Tons so that fresh and clean water is available to the inhabitants.
He said “The confluence of the two rivers is already free from smell. Birds have started drinking water there. It is an encouraging news.”
He also praises the transfer policy for bureaucrats and police officers of BJP government saying that it is transparent and balanced.
Mr Rawat came into power when BJP won 57 of the 70 Assembly State seats in Uttarakhand.
